Rockford Grounwater Contamination

The Illinois EPA informed Rockford's Department of Public Works of confirmed detection of TCE, trichloroethylene, in the groundwater.

"IEPA spokeswoman Maggie Carson on Friday stressed that while TCE levels exceed 2.5 parts per billion, the level does not exceed the Class 1 groundwater quality standards for TCE or 5 ppb that both federal and state laws allows in drinking water. " (From Rockford Register Star Nov. 21, 2009)
